Energy
The ability of things to change themselves or to cause change in other things.
Joule (J)
The unit of measurement for energy, defined as 1 N⋅m or 1 kg m/s².
Kinetic Energy (KE)
Energy of motion, which depends on mass and velocity.
Potential Energy (PE)
Energy due to position or stored energy.
Elastic Potential Energy
Energy stored in objects that are stretched, compressed, or otherwise distorted.
Chemical Potential Energy (CPE)
Energy stored in chemical bonds of a substance.
Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE)
Energy due to an object's height and mass; calculated as PE = mass × gravity × height.
Thermal Energy
Energy associated with the vibration and movement of molecules, often felt as heat.
Radiant Energy
Energy carried by electromagnetic waves.
Sound Energy
Energy produced by vibrations that travel through a medium as sound waves.
