Adab
Refined character, good behavior, and politeness; it also signifies an advanced level of life or civilization.
Adat Resam
Customs that are habitual to a particular ethnic group or region, including traditions such as marriage rituals (merisik, bertunang).
Adat Istiadat
A variety of customs and rules followed in official ceremonies, such as coronations or formal wedding ceremonies.
Etika (Ethics)
Moral principles or values held by individuals or groups, or a sociological standard of right and wrong concerning responsibility and societal benefit.
Etos (Ethos)
The characteristic traits of a nation, culture, or era, reflecting its philosophy and aspirations; in sociology, it involves nation-building based on diverse backgrounds.
Etiket (Etiquette)
The rules and customs of politeness, particularly those practiced in social life or within specific professions.
Peradaban
The system and stage of social development, social progress, and cultural advancement of a specific nation.
Prakolonial (Pre-colonial)
The era before the country was colonized, during which ethics existed as traditional adab, adat resam, and adat istiadat.
Kolonial (Colonial)
The period of colonization when modern European concepts of ethics, ethos, and etiquette were introduced through administration and social conduct.
Pascakolonial (Post-colonial)
The modern era where traditional and modern forms of ethics are combined and influenced by technology within the Malaysian context.
Kerangka Analisis (Analytical Framework)
The three components used to analyze ethics and civilization in Malaysia: History (Sejarah), Social Structure (Struktur Sosial), and Biography (Biografi).
Struktur Sosial (Social Structure)
The levels of society including individuals, families, and communities, as well as the broader categories of Society, State, and the Market.
Strait of Malacca
A historical shipping artery approximately 800km in length and 50km in breadth at its narrowest point, carrying nearly one-quarter of international maritime trade.
Biografi (Biography)
The life stories and backgrounds of individuals, families, and communities that influence the level of ethical appreciation in a society.
