Units of measure

24 anuglas make one hasta, an angula is 2 cm, four hastas make one danda, eight yavas make one angula, eight yukas make one yava, eight liksas make one yuka, eight balas make one liksa, eight rajas make on bala, eight anus make on raja

Mattavarni or side room

either side of stage, can be as long as stage, raised to the height of 1 1/2 hastas

The square playhouse

the rangapitha should be eight hastas in length and width

triangular playhouse

constructed with three corners, stage is triangular, one of doors is in the corner and other is at the back of the stage

4 tips of lighting

foot lights should be avoided, lights shouldn't fall directly on screen, spot lights should be held well above and from sides, lights shouldn't be right above the dancer but at an angle.

Old age Makeup

turmeric on face, eyes/eyebrows done, beetle leaves/nuts to make lips and fingers red

Base

oil based creme applied evenly to face.

on cheeks and below eyebrows. cheeks should be highlighted if face is long, should be shaded if face is round. if nose is flat, shade on sides

applied lightly with puff otherwise base will come off

applied with sponge to make makeup last longer. Applied on hands, neck, and legs too.
