Vehicle Height
9ft11in
Vehicle Length
31ft0.25in
Waterous Pump Capacity
1500gpm
Water Tank Capacity
600Gallon
Foam Tank Capacity
30Gallon
Cramp Angle
Improved by five degrees compared to previous Quantums, allowing for sharper turns.
NFPA 1901
A state law adoption requiring all equipment in the cab to be secured in a cabinet or bracket unless needed for emergency response.
Officer Knee Bag Clearance
No part of any equipment may extend within a 4in area outward from all sides of the bag.
SRP (Side Roll Protection)
A safety system that detects rollovers, retracting seatbelts, pulling air ride seats to their lowest position, and deploying side curtain airbags.
FIP (Frontal Impact Protection)
A safety system that activates during frontal or oblique collisions, involving seatbelt retraction, seat lowering, side curtain airbags, steering wheel airbags, and officer knee bags.
DEF Reservoir
A 4.5gallon tank for Diesel Exhaust Fluid located on the driver's side near the rear wheels.
DEF Consumption
Typically 2–3% of fuel consumption, requiring a refill approximately every other fuel fill.
Regeneration (Regen)
A periodic self-cleaning process designed to maintain the Engine Exhaust After Treatment System.
Passive Regen
Regeneration that occurs during normal engine operations like driving or pumping without driver action.
Active Regen
Regeneration where the driver may assist by changing the engine's duty cycle or initiating a Parked Regen.
Parked Regen
A stationary regeneration process initiated by the operator when the DPF light is on, requiring a clean surface and 5ft clearance from flammable materials.
Wait Time for Parked Regen
Typically takes 20–40minutes to complete.
HEST Light
High Exhaust System Temperature light; illuminates when exhaust temperature exceeds 977∘F.
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
Indicates a fault specifically related to an emission component.
Solid DPF Light
Indicates the vehicle requires regeneration in a reasonable amount of time.
Flashing DPF Light
Indicates the vehicle requires regeneration as soon as possible.
DPF Light with Stop Engine
Indicates a critical status where serious engine damage may result; requires immediate shutdown and taking the vehicle out of service.
Fan Engagement Temperature
The engine coolant or air intake temperature reaches 220∘F.
Warm Water Decon System Tank
A separate 18gallon water tank located above the pump panel used for decontamination.
Decon System Heat Time
Approximately 45–60minutes to fully warm a cold tank of water on shore power.
Oil Specification
API CJ-4 15W-40; only types meeting the CJ-4 standard should be used to avoid damage to the after treatment system.
Transmission Fluid Check Requirements
Fluid temperature between 140∘F and 220∘F, transmission in Neutral, engine at idle, and stationary for approximately two minutes.
ASR (Anti-Slip-Resistance)
A feature of the ABS system that automatically applies brakes to a spinning wheel to increase torque to the other wheel.
Off Road Traction Control Switch
A switch used when climbing out of deep mud, snow, or sand to allow some wheel slippage by reducing ASR intervention.
RSC (Roll Stability Control)
A system that senses potential rollovers and intervenes by reducing throttle or applying the retarder and brakes.
ESC (Electronic Stability Control)
A system that compares steering input with actual vehicle direction and corrects skidding by selectively applying brakes and throttle.
Onspot Chains
Automatic chains for the rear inside dual wheels, effective in up to 4in of snow at speeds up to 35mph.
Opticom
An Infra-Red device that activates with the master switch, used for traffic signal preemption.
Command Zone Information Center (CZIC)
The driver's interface to the multiplex system and backup camera monitor.
Pump Shift Control Lever
An air-actuated switch that requires at least 80psi in the air system to shift from 'Road' to 'Pump'.
PSG (Pump Pressure System Governor)
The device controlling the pump, defaulting to Pressure Control mode with features for cavitation and pressure protection.
PSG Preset Pressure
125psi.
Lo Water Mode
Triggered if pressure falls below 45psi but remains above 15psi; sets engine speed to 1100RPM for seven seconds before returning to idle.
Manual Pump Engagement
A two-person emergency evolution requiring specific lever and handle manipulation.
Drafting Relief Valve Precaution
Internal suction side relief valves may cause vacuum leaks while drafting.
Manifold Drain
A valve that must be momentarily opened at the conclusion of every pump operation to protect the foam manifold check valve from damage.
Booster Reel Specs
150ft of 1inch hose designed for flows less than 50gpm.
Foam Preset Levels
0.4% for Class B fires and 0.1% for Class A fires.
Nova Cool
The specific brand of foam concentrate required; mixing brands can cause serious damage to pump seals.
