so you guys, you… you hung out a lot?
evan- just so that no one else could, it was more private, i guess, that way
he knew you read his emails
zoe- the weird this is, the only time i ever saw you and my brother together was when he shoved you at school last week
he shoved you?
evan- he didn't really want people to know we were friends i guess he was embarrassed a little
why would he be embarrassed?
evan- loser i was going to say actually but nerd works too

he took you to the orchard
evan- yes. he did
when?
evan- exactly, which is why we were so bummed when we get there because it was completely it's totally closed down now
we used to go to the orchard all the time. we’d do picnics out there. remember that zoe?
zoe- yeah i do
you and connor had that little toy plane you would fly. until you flew it into the creek
larry- there was an emergency landing
i can't believe he took you there. i beg that was fun. i bet you two, i bet you had fun

larry- à la mode
That was it. à la mode. and they had that homemade hot fudge

zoe- you really don’t have to do this okay?

zoe- just because connor isn't here trying to punch through my door, screaming at the top of his lungs that he's going to kill me for no reason that doesn't mean that all of a sudden where the fucking Brady Bunch
we are all grieving in our own way. i know how much you miss your brother. we all do. you can read these when you’re ready
larry- i’m going to bed

he didn’t get invited to a single one.
i thought you could wear this for your speech
evan- my what?
well alana said that anyone who wanted to would have the chance to say something tomorrow. i think we all assumed that you would be the first to sign up
evan- i don’t um the thing is just i don’t really do very well with um with public speaking im not very good at it you wouldn’t want me to trust me
of course i would want you to. i’m sure the whole school wants to hear from you. i know larry and i do. and zoe… think about it
jared- four thousand / five hundred and eighty-two
sixteen thousand two hundred and thirty nine
evan- i don’t understand. what happened?
you did
start of scene six- on couch with larry and heidi
evan tells us you're studying to be a lawyer
heidi- paralegal
you’re kidding
larry- i had no idea
aren't you / -they’re always looking for new paralegals
larry- well why dom’t i give you my card at least and when you graduate / you should absolutely
that is a great idea. kismet
heidi- oh no you don’t have to do that
it’s kismet
heidi- red would be great
it's from a vineyard outside of portland- completely one hundred percent sustainable, the entire production process. they had a whole feature on them in the new york times. incredible.
heidi- i’m so glad that you called this morning. i was i’ve been agonizing over whether i should if it was appropriate for me to reach out
oh heidi. we have, too. Evan says you’re so busy i don’t know if i should bother you
heidi- i’m not that busy
well i asked evan if you minding him spending so much time here and he said it wasn’t a problem because of your schedule. with classes and work…
larry- even been a real… he’s been a great source of comfort for us these last few days
well, he and connor, they were close
larry- we were the same
boys love to keep secrets
heidi- evan didn’t tell me anything
secret handshakes, secret tree houses…
zoe- sorry we’re late. band went long again
we’re just in here having a glass of wine, getting to know each other
heidi- i didn’t realize that evan was, that you were joining us too
i'm sorry i didn’t think to tell you
heidi- well this seemed for important so j’m playing hooky
we were just talking about how sneaky you and connor were. top secret
evan- something smells good
chicken milanese…
evan- i don’t know
oh but evan you call and tell your mother when your staying the night, right?
heidi- his teach last year for english said he wrote one of the best papers she’d ever read about sulu
how about that
larry- i guess now is as good a time as any. cynthia, do you want to…?
well. zoe happened to mention to mention to us the other day that evan was having some difficulty in terms of… the financial burdens of college. and larry and i started thinking about it. and we were very fortunate to have been able to set aside some money for our son.
i’m ok. I’m ok.
i called you this morning to invite you to come join us for dinner tonight heidi because… well first of all because we wanted to thank you for allowing your son to have come into our lives. he was a dear dear friend to our connor. and we have come to just love him to pieces. and with your blessing we would like to give evan the money we put away for our son so that he can use it to fulfill his dreams, just like evan helped connor….
fulfill his.
larry- it would be such a gift to us if we could do this for evan
it would be a tremendous gift, heidi.
heidi- well thank you so much but we're going to be fine. i don't have a lot of money but i do have some
oh we didn’t mean / at all
heidi- well but as his mother i need to set an example for him that you can't expect things from strangers
we’re not strangers
heidi- of course not thank you for the wine it was delicious
you’re not saying for dinner?
heidi- i think i’d better do to work after all
oh no
start of scene nine looking at computer with fam
where did they get connor note
evan- i tried to call alana but she’s / not answering
some of these are adults. do you see their pictures? these are adults
zoe- it’s blocked who cares
what did they say to you?
zoe- it dosen’t matter dad
i'm calling the police that’s it
larry- right now maybe the best thing to do is just wait and see if this blows over
that's always your solution , isn’t it? do nothing.
zoe- can you guys just stop
wait and see. let’s wait and see right larry?
larry- what are the police going to do it’s the internet. they’re go in to arrest the internet
i had to beg you, every step / of the way
evan- i really think they're going to stop
i had to plead with you. for therapy, rehab
larry- you went lurching form one miracle cure to the next
miracle cure / really. is that what you call it
evan- maybe i should try calling alana again
and what was your alternative? other then picking apart everything i did
zoe- no you wanted to punish him
listen to your daughter larry
