What is taxonomy?
The practice of biological classification.
Why is classification used?
To arrange organisms into groups based on their evolutionary origins and relationships.

A group of organisms sharing characteristics and evolutionary relationships.
What is a binomial name?
The two-part scientific name of an organism consisting of its genus and species.
What two parts make up a binomial name?
Genus and species.
How is the genus written in a binomial name?
With a capital letter.
How is the species name written in a binomial name?
With a lowercase letter.
How should a binomial name be presented?
It should be italicised when typed or underlined when handwritten.
