Gestalt Principles
Psychological concepts that emphasize that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts in perception.
Perceptual Constancy
The tendency to perceive objects as unchanging despite changes in sensory input.
Distal and Proximal Shapes
Distal refers to objects far from the observer, while proximal refers to objects close to the observer as they are perceived.
Retinal Disparity
The difference in images between the two eyes, which allows for depth perception.
Monocular Cues
Depth cues that require only one eye, such as size, texture, and perspective.
Müller-Lyer Illusion
An optical illusion that shows how the length of a line can be perceived differently based on the direction of arrowheads at its ends.
Enclosure Principle
The idea that objects are perceived as grouped together if they enclose an area.
Parallel Lines
Lines that never converge, no matter how far they are extended.
Binocular View
The visual perception resulting from both eyes working together.
Perception of Color
Influenced by the relationships and contrasts of colors around an object.
