Why Anthropologie?
Focused on personal expression
Combination of fashion, creativity, and individuality in the brand
The customer experience feels more personal and consultative
What does Anthropologie's aesthetic mean to you?
Feminine, artistic, and eclectic feel
A mixture of romantic details, different textures, and vintage inspired pieces
To me, the clothing feels a statement piece that you can still style in a way that fits your personality, which is also a big part of the customer service experience.
Who is the Anthropologie customer?
Individuality, unique pieces, high quality
Not just once type of customer, it's for people looking for something casual, for a special occasion, work, or just trying to spice up their closet
My job would be to understand what individuality and style looks like for each individual customer
What differentiates Anthro from other fashion retailers?
It's a brand that really guides itself based on a customer experience that is about helping someone discover pieces that fit their personality rather than following a trend
How do you approach a customer?
Friendly greeting
Find a natural way to start conversation if their body language seems open to it like what brings them in or if they're shopping for something specific from there i'd ask more questions
How do you handle someone who doesn't want help?
Respect them and give space while still letting them know that I'm available if they need anything
I wouldn't follow them around, but stay attentive in case I see them comparing two pieces, looking for a size, or seem unsure about something (use that as a natural opportunity to check in)
Be available without being intrusive so they can come to me when ready
How do you make a recommendation?
Occasion (casual or dressier)
Preferences (dresses, skirts, or pants)
Comfort (silhouettes or fabrics that they feel good in)
Color (color palette)
Build the outfit (2-3 pieces)
What trends are you currently interested in?
Ballet flats and sneakers, cardigans, draped tops, layering, and fall pieces

Find products, answered questions, gave recommendations, handled returns and exchanges
Especially enjoyed working in makeup and skincare because I could learn a customers needs and help find something to fit their needs
Operational side I received shipments, restocked, maintained the sales floors, and helped with displays
Balance customer service with keeping the store organized and running smoothly
Tell me about a time you went above and beyond.
Holiday shipment
Going above and beyond is simply recognizing what needs to be done and taking initiative without needing to be asked.
Tell me about a time you handled a difficult customer.
One time I had an older gentleman come up to the cash register that was searching for a specific product. I believe it was some kind of medicine. I could immediately tell that his demeanor was a bit impatient, but rather than being defensive, I recognized that I just needed to remain calm and understanding to see if I could ease the tension. I had checked the inventory scanner and it showed that we were out of stock. His reaction to this was to become more aggressive and he began leaning over the counter to get closer to me. Immediately, I recognized that this was a situation that I would need support from someone with more authority, so I called up my manager and calmly explained the situation, focusing on the fact that the customer was disappointed and might need more guidance on finding a substitute or similar product with help from the pharmacy possibly.
Tell me about your merchandising experience.
Practical and creative side of presentations
Displays reflect the brand and makes sense
The outfits match the theme and create a cohesive visual
How would you contribute to sales?
Focusing on the customer experience
Understanding their style and suggesting items based off of that or also even finding opportunities to introduce them to pieces they may not have considered. Just building a connection with customer.
Tell me about yourself.
Recent graduate and I just moved to Atlanta
I am someone who enjoys expressing myself through artistic outlets such as dance, stationary crafts, filling my wardrobe, etc.
Why should we hire you?
My experience with customer service at Walgreens and fashion and visual presentation through SQ made me realize that I enjoy the combination of working with people and helping bring a creative vision to life. Though I may not have retail experience primarily relating to fashion, I believe the skills I have now would help me to succeed in learning anthropologie specific products and systems.
What's your biggest strength?
I really enjoy learning new skills and do it quickly. I think it is the most important thing in life to consistently be challenging yourself. It's an opportunity to learn more about yourself and grow your skill levels. So I am very big on perseverance through challenges. This means that I can learn quickly, especially with hands-on type of work- like I've recently gotten into cross stitching and I'm already ready to start adding designs to my clothes and blankets.
What's something you're working on?
I am a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes that can mean that I delay my response to situations or spend too much time creating the perfect solution for one, but I have really begun to tackle this issue with the necessity of creating a plan/schedule that is based on my challenges and is accommodating for myself and the goal I am trying to achieve.
What does good customer service mean to you?
Good customer service means making a customer feel welcome, heard, and care for. It's about working with a customer to understand what they are looking for rather than simply trying to make a sale. That allows me to make thoughtful recommendations and make the experience feel more personal to them. I think it's also about being attentive to the small things and making sure a customer feels confident about their experience, even if they don't end up buying something.
