Polyatomic ions are ions that have 2 or more elements within the ion. It is important to know how many of each element make up the polyatomic ion as well as the corresponding charge. Within the polyatomic ions, patterns exist and can be used to help you remember some of these. Cations: Positive charged ions. Anions: Negatively charged ions.
