Macule

flat area of different color on skin, less than 1cm.

Patch

Different color/texture on skin, larger than 1cm.

Papule

Circumscribed lesion less than 1cm, above surface level.

Vesicle

Small elevated lesion w/ Serous Fluid. Less than 1cm.

Cyst

Pus filled, closed Sac. Can be processed by a papule or vesticle

Nodule

Palpable small solid lesion in soft tissue.

Ex. Fibrin’s, Lipoma, Neuroma.

Bulla

Circumscribed elevated lesion with Serous Fluid. Larger than 1cm.

Lobule

Segment or Lobe that is part of a whole.

Sessile

Base of a lesion that is Flat/Broad.

Pedunculated

Base of a lesion that is Stem / Stalk-like / Mushroom shaped.

Erosion

Lesion where Epithelium is worn away. Slightly depressed

Ulcer

Crater like lesion that extends into dermis. Painful.

Erythroplakia

Red lesion. Either smooth, granular, or velvety.

Leukoplakia

White plaque like lesion. Cannot be rubbed off.

Papillary

In clusters like cauliflower

Fissure

Cleft
