Global Politics
The study of how power and resources are distributed and managed at a worldwide level.
State
A political and legal entity with a defined territory, permanent population, government, and capacity to enter relations with other states.
Sovereignty
The supreme authority of a state, free from external control, recognized by the international community.
Polarity
The distribution of power among states, which can manifest as unipolarity, bipolarity, multipolarity, or tripolarity.
Global Governance
The system of institutions, rules, norms, and procedures that enable international cooperation on issues crossing national borders.
Non-state Actors
Organizations or individuals that operate independently of a state or government but have significant influence in international relations.
Bipolarity
A global structure where two great powers or blocs hold most of the power.
Multipolarity
A global system where power is distributed among several great powers of roughly equal influence.
Tripolarity
A global structure characterized by three major powers.
The United Nations (UN)
An international organization founded in 1945, consisting of 193 Member States, aimed at maintaining international peace and security.
International Laws and Treaties
A body of rules, principles, and customs governing relationships between states and other international actors.
Regionalism
The political and ideological commitment to cooperate and integrate with countries in one's region.
Global Economics
An area of study that explores how globalization affects state sovereignty, particularly regarding economic interests.
Global Social Movements
Grassroots movements that emerge to advocate for issues like human rights and environmental justice.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
A framework adopted by UN Member States in 2015, which includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at promoting global peace and prosperity.
