Cell cycle
Changes cell goes through from fomation to divison
Interphase
Is the longtiest phase last most of the cells time carrying out normal activities
When it is about to divide it will replicate DNA during this phase
Mitosis Miotic phase
Cell reproduces itself through cell division
Mitosis division of copied DNA into two daughter nuclei
Cytokinesis when the cell itself divides
Interphase 2
Not part of mitosis
DNA is in chromatin form threadlike and not condensed
DNA is replicated
Prophase
Chromatin needs to condense to chromosomes
Duplicated chromosomes are sister chromatids
When separated they each will be a new chromosome
Held by centromere
Metaphase
Our sister chromatid are still together and chromosomes line up at the midline
Ezymes act on the centromere to separate them
Anaphase
Centromeres split
Each sister chromatid is a separate chromosome
Begin to move apart
Short condensed chromosomes are easily moved than tangled stringy chromatin
Telophase
Begins when the chromosomes finsih moving apart
Uncoil into chromatin form
Nuclear envelope forms around each mass of chromatin
Mitosis complete
Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm divides and cells are pinched apart
Meiosis
Makes gametes that have half the normal chromosomes haploid
Nongametes are diploid they have twice the number of chromosomes
Yields four distinct daughter nuclei
