The ability to do work, can be converted into different forms, example of measurement is kw/H, Joules, Calories, btu, boe
Power
Rate of energy used over time, eg. Watt (J/s), horsepower, btu/h
Power in society
Average human can produce energy at a rate of 100W, average person uses 10kW (including lifestyle like electrical, infrastructure, logistics)
Energy sectors
Industrial, commercial, transportation, residential
Energy sector distribution
Sector % in each country differs due to lifestyles and economics, eg. residential % is higher than industry in developing countries, larger transportation % in large countries like USA and Canada
Energy source distribution
Majority (83%) fossil duels globally, followed by hydro (7%) and nuclear (4%)
GDP and energy consumption
General trend is that higher GDP = more energy consumption, however lots of factors go into energy consumption like transportation, heating (warmer climates use less energy for this), exports/imports, so many exceptions
