Anatomical Regions of the Head and Face Diagram
A comprehensive side-view diagram illustrating the surface anatomy and major regions of the human head and face.
Frontal region
The region covering the forehead area at the upper anterior part of the head, superior to the orbital and nasal regions.
Parietal region
The region at the top posterior area of the head, situated posterior to the frontal region and superior to the temporal region.
Temporal region
The lateral region of the head located above the ear area, inferior to the parietal region and posterior to the orbital region.
Occipital region
The lower back region of the head, positioned inferior to the parietal region and posterior to the temporal region.
Auricular region
The region centered on the external ear, situated posterior to the zygomatic and facial regions.
Orbital region
The facial region encompassing the eye socket and surrounding structures, located inferior to the frontal region.
Nasal region
The facial region encompassing the nose, located medial to the orbital and infraorbital regions.
Infraorbital region
The facial region located directly below the orbital region and lateral to the nasal region.
Zygomatic region
The cheekbone region of the face, situated inferior to the orbital and temporal regions and anterior to the auricular region.
Buccal region
The lower cheek region of the face, located inferior to the zygomatic region and lateral to the oral region.
Oral region
The facial region encompassing the lips and mouth area, situated inferior to the nasal and infraorbital regions and superior to the mental region.
Mental region
The chin region located at the lower anterior boundary of the face, inferior to the oral region.
