What are the primary environmental systems?
Air, Water, Soil, Hazardous Waste/Solid
Drinking water system
Surface water, WTP, Ground water and Clearwell storage, pump station, customers, Wastewater treatment.
Wastewater Treatment
Public sewer (main), gravity flow to pump, Pump station, Sewer force (main) (pumped uphill), Wastewater treatment plant
Why do we have separate storm and waste sewers?
Some reasons that separate sewers are preferred are: flooding (storm sewers only deal with rainfall and waste sewers only deal with water from homes/buildings), public health (drinking water has no chance of being contaminated), and the environment (the wastewater wouldn’t be able to flow into streams or creeks)
