Explain the major differences between the 1st Continental Congress and the 2nd Continental Congress
The 1st continental congress was called to address grievances against the British government and the 2nd continental congress was initially called for the same reason but once it voted to declare independence it acted as the defector of an independent nation.
Explain how Enlightenment ideas and the dissatisfaction over Britain's control over the colonies led to the Declaration of Independence. Be sure to address how natural rights, self government and social contracts influenced the Declaration.
Colonists were angry with the British because of the phrase “No taxation without representation” along with the British taking away their rights as English citizens. They wanted a voice on how they were being governed.They believe that all men are created equal, all men are entitled to certain libertins/rights and as independent states they can make trade agreements and treaties along with doing whatever is necessary to govern themselve.

A verbal protest against taxes being imposed upon people that feel like they have no say in the matter.The colonists had no voice in the government to argue against being taxed. it was imposed without their consent, highlighting their desire for representation.
Compare the war strategy of the British and the Americans? What did each side need to do in order to win the war? Which side was able to effectively carry out their plan and why?
The British had to fully crush the rebellion in all of the colonies and reestablish British rule. This involved defeating the Continental Army and loyalist militias. the Americans strategy of gaining support from other country’s. Without the help of Spain, the Netherlands, and especially France, it's unlikely the colonists would have prevailed. The Americans plan worked out because they got help from France and Spain which are enemies with the British so they had extra forces to win the war.
How did the Battle of Saratoga turn the tide of the Revolutionary war. Identify and describe at least three major outcomes of the battle.
The Battle of Saratoga is often called the turning point of the American Revolution because The American defeat of the superior British army lifted patriot morale, furthered the hope for independence, and helped to secure the foreign support needed to win the war.
