FTP
File Transfer Protocol 20/21
The standard protocol for transfering files between client and server over a computer network
20: Data Port, handles data transferring (downloads, uploads, and directory listing) Moving Truck
21: Control Port: Used to send commands between the client and server. (Conversation on what to transfer, commands)
SFTP
TCP 22 Secure File Transfer Protocol
Encrypts the entire connection, including usernames, passwords, and files.
Uses SSH for secure file transfers

Used for secure remote access to another computer or server.
Encrypts all traffic, including usernames and passwords.
Commonly used by network administrators to manage servers remotely.

Telnet TCP
UNENCRYPTED version of ssh, passwords login info sent in plain text

Simple Mail transfer Protocol (SMTP) FTP
Used for sending email between mail servers.
Also used by email clients to submit outgoing mail in some setups.
Does not retrieve email.
