What is thermoregulation and why is it important

Is the process of our body maintaining a stable internal temperature

2
New cards

How does our body cool down

  • Release sweat —> it carries out heat

  • Blood vessels expands—> called Vasodilate, it causes the blood vessels to get closer to the surface so that heat can be released

  • Erector muscles relax and makes the hair lie down

3
New cards

How does the body Heat up

  • Our muscles contract —> it needs respiration and the process of respiration releases heat energy

  • Erector muscles lifts up out hair—> it will trap air so its harder for heat to be released into the surroundings

  • Blood vessels gets constricted—> called Vasoconstriction, it causes the blood vessels to be further from the surface
