Tell me about yourself

Hi, I'm Kaiqing. I'm currently a junior at UT Austin studying Arts and Entertainment Technologies.

I'm really interested in visual design and digital content. Right now, I'm a UI and Visual Design Intern at Yaotu, where I create avatar designs, UI assets, and other graphics. I also previously worked as a content creator intern at Fine Light Visuals, where I created short-form videos and social media content.

This fall, I'll be in Los Angeles through the UTLA program, and I'm really interested in learning more about entertainment marketing and the creative process behind trailers and campaigns.

Why are you interested in Tiny Hero?

I'm interested in Tiny Hero because I really like the combination of entertainment, visual design, and marketing.

When I looked through Tiny Hero's work, I was really interested in how the company takes movies and shows and creates creative content around them. I also really liked the Marvel Map Reveal work because of how visual and fast-paced it feels.

I think Tiny Hero would be a great place for me to learn how creative ideas become professional entertainment campaigns.

Why are you interested in Motion Graphics, Producing, and Social Media?

I chose those three areas because they connect to different parts of my experience and interests.

Motion Graphics is probably my first interest because I really enjoy visual design and video content. I think motion graphics combines both of those things.

I'm also interested in Producing because I want to understand how a creative project goes from an idea to final delivery and how different creative teams work together.

For social media, I already have some experience creating short-form content, so I would also love to learn how social content works specifically in entertainment marketing.

4
New cards

Which department is your first choice?

I would probably say Motion Graphics is my first choice.

My background is mainly in visual design and digital content, so I think it connects well with what I already enjoy. At the same time, I'm still learning motion graphics, and that's one of the main reasons I'm interested in the internship.

I'm also very open to Producing and Social Media because I want to explore different parts of the creative process.

5

Why Motion Graphics?

I've always been interested in visual design, but I also really enjoy video and editing.

Motion graphics feels like a combination of those interests. I like the idea of using typography, graphics, and movement to help create a certain feeling or make a piece of content more exciting.

It's an area I want to get more professional experience in.

6
New cards

What do you hope to learn from this internship?

I really want to learn how the professional creative process works in entertainment marketing.

I'm especially interested in seeing how a project develops from the first idea to the final version. I also want to learn how motion graphics, editorial, and producing teams work together.

I have experience creating content on a smaller scale, but I want to see how that process works on larger entertainment campaigns.

7
New cards

Tell me about a time you received feedback.

In my current internship, I receive feedback on my designs pretty often.

For example, I've worked on avatar designs where the first version didn't fully match the direction the team wanted. I had to make changes to the character details and overall visual style.

I try not to take feedback personally. I usually look at what the project needs and use the feedback to improve the next version.

8
New cards

Tell me about a time you took initiative.

At Fine Light Visuals, I often had to think of content ideas for different cars and social media videos.

Sometimes there wasn't a very detailed direction, so I would look at the car, think about what was visually interesting, and come up with different shots or video ideas.

That experience helped me become more comfortable making creative decisions and not always waiting for someone to tell me exactly what to do.

9
New cards

What is your greatest strength?

I think one of my biggest strengths is that I'm open to feedback and willing to learn.

I know I'm still a student, so I don't expect to know everything. When someone gives me feedback, I try to understand why and apply it to my work.

I think that has helped me improve a lot in my internships.

10
New cards

What is your weakness?

I can be a little quiet when I first join a new team.

I've been working on communicating more, especially asking questions earlier and giving updates instead of trying to figure everything out by myself.

My current internship has helped me become more comfortable with that.

11
New cards

Why should we choose you?

I think I would be a good fit because I have experience in both visual design and digital content, and I'm very interested in entertainment marketing.

I'm also open to feedback and willing to learn. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I'm excited to work hard, take initiative, and learn from the team.

12

What are your career goals?

I'm interested in working in a creative role in the entertainment or media industry.

Right now, I'm especially interested in visual design, motion graphics, and creative content. I'm still exploring the exact role I want long term, and I think this internship would help me better understand where my skills fit in the industry.

One project that stood out to me was the Marvel Map Reveal work.

I really liked the fast-paced visual style and how the graphics and editing help build excitement. Since I'm interested in both visual design and video content, it caught my attention.

It also made me curious about the process behind creating something like that and how the motion graphics and editorial teams work together.

is career because I have always enjoyed visual design, storytelling, and creating content for different audiences. Through my current design internship, I know that I really enjoy transforming ideas into visuals that make websites more engaging and enjoyable.

I am still exploring whether motion graphics, producing, or social media is the best fit for me, but I know that I want to build my career in the creative entertainment industry. New cards

Why are you looking for a new position now?

I have learned a lot in my current UI and visual design internship, especially about developing ideas, receiving feedback, and creating visual assets for a real website. I’m very grateful for that experience.

My current work is mainly focused on website design, but I’m now looking for an opportunity that is more closely connected to film, television, and entertainment marketing. Tiny Hero stood out to me because I could explore motion graphics, producing, and social media while learning how trailers and promotional campaigns are created.

What are your most relevant qualifications for this position?

I believe this internship is a strong fit for both my experience and my interests. First, I am highly organized and comfortable managing multiple creative tasks and deadlines. In my design and content-creation internships, I have had to prioritize projects, keep track of revisions, and make sure that assets were completed on time.

At the same time, I am a creative person. I enjoy developing visual concepts, designing characters and website elements, and creating short-form social media content that captures an audience’s attention.

I am also very team-oriented. I enjoy collaborating with other creative people, receiving feedback, and improving my work based on the needs of the project. I am dependable and take my responsibilities seriously. In my previous content-creation internship, I regularly managed several videos each week while also helping with client shoots and revisions.

I think this combination of organization, creativity, teamwork, and reliability would allow me to contribute to Tiny Hero while continuing to learn about motion graphics, producing, and entertainment marketing.

Right now, I work as a UI and Visual Design Intern at Yaotu Technologies, where I create assets such as character designs, membership frames, and profile-page elements for a web-based platform. I work with the team to develop ideas, receive feedback, and revise my designs so they stay consistent with the overall visual direction.

Before that, I worked as a Content Creator Intern at Fine Light Visuals. That experience taught me how to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and create content that captures an audience’s attention.

What do you know about our company and why do you want to work here?

I’m really excited about Tiny Hero for a couple of reasons. First, I know that Tiny Hero is a creative entertainment marketing agency that produces trailers, teasers, television spots, graphics, title designs, and social media content for major film and television companies.

One project that especially caught my attention was the social media campaign for Toy Story 5. One of the videos began with a fake “Lilypad is temporarily unavailable” error message. I thought it was a creative way to promote the movie on TikTok instead of simply reposting a traditional trailer. It immediately caught my attention and connected humor with the movie’s technology theme.

I also like that Tiny Hero’s internship allows interns to learn from different departments and develop skills in the areas that interest them most. I’m interested in motion graphics, producing, and social media, so I would be excited to learn how an entertainment campaign develops from the initial idea to the final delivery.

Second, I believe I would be a strong fit for the program. I have experience in visual design, short-form content creation, receiving creative feedback, and managing multiple projects. I enjoy collaborating with creative people, and I would be excited to contribute my skills while continuing to learn from the Tiny Hero team.
