Supplies
Disposable items used for patient examination and treatment, such as examination table paper, drapes, gowns, dressings, tongue depressors, gloves, syringes, needles, and alcohol pads.
Equipment
Durable items that require routine maintenance and cleaning between use, and should be properly stored rather than left on countertops or within patient reach.
Thermometer
A piece of equipment used to measure body temperature.
Stethoscope
A piece of equipment used to amplify sounds in the body, such as the beating of the heart, respirations in the lungs, and bowel sounds in the abdomen.
Sphygmomanometer
A piece of equipment used to measure blood pressure.
Pulse oximeter
A piece of equipment used to measure oxygen saturation in the blood.
Reflex hammer
A piece of equipment used for testing reflexes.
Otoscope
A piece of equipment used to examine the ears.
Ophthalmoscope
A piece of equipment used to examine the interior of the eye, especially the retina.
Daily Schedule Review
The process of reviewing the schedule at the beginning of each day to identify patient names and reasons for visits to determine required rooms, supplies, and equipment.
