Worship

Worship

This word simply means a valuing or treasuring of something above all other things (our salvation rests on it)

Veneration

a deep honor and respect for something, but your salvation does NOT rest on it

Theological Virtues

Faith, Hope, Love, ways for us to show worship to God

Religion

This word means ‘to bind’, as in: we are binding ourselves to God

Idolatry

making something finite more important than God

Superstition

assigning magical power to certain practices or objects to obtain an end

Divination

giving power to objects to predict the future

Sacrilege

the abuse of sacraments, things, and people that are consecrated to God

Simony

buying and selling spiritual favors/confessions

Atheism

The absolute denial of God’s existence

Agnosticism

viewpoint that God’s existence is unknowable and thus irrelevant

Satanic Worship

Worshiping the devil

Heresy

This word, at its root, means ‘choice’. It’s the obstinate denial of a particular belief.

Vain

having no positive result or real value

Oath

using God’s name as a witness to promise something/truth towards another person

Vow

when one person makes a promise to God with another person as a witness

Blasphemy

Using the name of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Mary in an intentionally offensive way

Perjury

When you lie while under an oath because you just used GOD’s name for a sinful use

Sabbath

This word means ‘he rested’

Recreation

This word means ‘to create again’
