Self presentation
Individuals attempts to present themselves to control or shape however others View them
Self-concept
Refers to our private sense of self who we are and what is it that makes us so.
Self-concept is made up at three components
Ideal self: The person you want to be
Self-image: how are you see yourself including physical attributes personality traits and social roles.
Self-worth: how much do you like except value yourself
Self- monitors
High self monitors care about how they present themselves.
Low self monitors care more about genuineness.
Impression management
The process of trying to control how others see you AIMS to make people like us.
Managing self image not only aids in leaving a lasting impression on others but it helps reach goals and being successful in a range of situations.
Factors that contribute to impression and perception we have formed of others
Verbal communication→ content of white person is saying
Non-verbal communication→ method used to present information without using spoken words
Primacy and recency effect
Privacy effect is remembering the first set of information whilst recency effect is remembering the last set of information.
