Absolute value (n)
The distance of a number from zero/giá trị tuyệt đối
Addition (n)
Mathematical operation that represents combining collections of objects together into a larger collect; it is signified by the plus (+) sign/phép cộng
Area (n)
The number of square units that covers a shape or figure; example: you would need to know the area of a room to buy a carpet/diện tích
Additive inverse (n)
Two numbers whose sum is 0; example: ¾ and - ¾ are additive inverses of one another because their sum equals 0
Associative property of addition (n)
A property for addition that means you can add three numbers in any order and get the same result; example (1 + 2) + 3 = 1 + (2 + 3); (a + b) + c = a + (b + c)
Associative property of multiplication (n)
A property for multiplication that means you can multiply three numbers in any order and get the same result; example: (1 . 2) . 3 = 1 . (2 . 3); (a . b) . c = a . (b . c)
Coefficient (n)
A constant that multiplies a variable
Commutative property of addition (n)
A property for addition that means you can add two numbers in any order and get the same result; example: 1 + 2 = 2 + 1; a + b = b + a
Commutative property of multiplication (n)
A property for multiplication that means you can multiply two numbers in any order and get the same result; example: 1 . 2 = 2 . 1; a . b = b . a
Complex number (n)
A number consisting of a real and imaginary part; it can be written in the form a + bi, where a and b are real numbers, an i is the standard imaginary unit with the property i² = -1
Complex plane (n)
A geometric representation of the complex numbers established by the real axis and the orthogonal imaginary axis; it can be thought of as a modified Cartesian plane, with the real part of a complex number represented by a displacement along the x-axis, and the imaginary part by a displacement along the y-axis, also known as a z-plane
Orthogonal (adj)
Two vectors (or lines, or planes) are orthogonal if they are perpendicular to each other. In terms of vectors, this means their dot product is zero
Plane (n)
A plane is a flat, two-dimensional surface that extends infinitely in all directions. It has length and width but no thickness
Linear (adj)
Collinear (adj)
Complex solution (n)
A solution or set of solutions containing a complex number
Conjugate (n)
If b and d are both non-negative, then the binomials a . sqrtb + c sqrtd and a sqrtb - c sqrtd are conjugates of one another
Coordinate (n)
One or more numbers that uniquely determine the position of a point or other geometric element on a line, graph, or map
Cube root (n)
A cube root of a number, denoted cube root of x or x raised to the power of 1/3, is a number such that a³ = x
Data display (n)
An organized way to display data; example: tables, charts, tally tables; picto
