Metals

Shiny, silvery solids that are good conductors of heat and electricity, malleable, ductile, and located to the left of (or underneath) the metalloids.

Malleable

Able to be shaped or extended by beating with hammers or pressing with rollers.

Ductile

Capable of being drawn out into wire or thread.

Nonmetals

Elements that are gases, or dull brittle solids, poor conductors, and located to the right of the metalloids, with the exception of Hydrogen.

Metalloids

Solid elements that are semiconductors, possessing physical properties like metals and chemical properties like nonmetals.

Semiconductors

Substances that conduct electricity well at high temperatures but poorly at low temperatures.
