Akutes Abdomen (Acute Abdomen)
A life-threatening symptom complex characterized by sudden severe abdominal pain, abdominal guarding (Abwehrspannung), impaired peristalsis, and potential circulatory shock.
Appendizitis
Inflammation of the vermiform appendix (Appendix vermiformis).
Mechanischer Ileus
Physical obstruction or occlusion of the intestinal lumen caused by factors such as tumors, hernias, or surgical adhesions.
Paralytischer Ileus
Intestinal obstruction resulting from paralysis of bowel movement and peristalsis.
Mesenterialinfarkt
Vascular occlusion leading to ischemic tissue infarction of a mesenteric artery.
Cholezystolithiasis
The presence or formation of gallstones within the gallbladder.
Cholezystitis
Inflammation of the gallbladder wall.
Pankreatitis
Inflammation of the pancreas.
Divertikulitis
Inflammation of diverticula in the intestinal tract.
Hohlorganperforation
A rupture or breakdown in the wall of a hollow organ, such as the stomach or intestine.
Miserere
The medical term for faecal vomiting (Stuhlerbrechen), indicating severe intestinal obstruction.
Bridenileus
A form of mechanical bowel obstruction caused by fibrous scar tissue bands (Briden) from prior abdominal surgery.

A nasogastric or oral gastric tube inserted to relieve intra-gastric pressure by draining backed-up fluid and gas into a collection bag.
Schmerz (IASP Definition)
An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with, or resembling that associated with, actual or potential tissue damage.
Nozizeptoren
Free nerve endings in tissue that serve as pain receptors reacting to mechanical, thermal, chemical, or electrical stimuli.
Stumme Nozizeptoren
Inactive pain receptors, primarily located in internal organs, that become active and responsive mainly during inflammation.
Neuropathischer Schmerz
Pain caused by damage or disease affecting the nervous system, often described as burning or shooting.
Viszeraler Schmerz
Pain originating from internal organs, typically characterized as dull, deep, or cramp-like.
Somatischer Schmerz
Pain originating from skin or the musculoskeletal system that is generally well-localized.
Psychogener Schmerz
Pain influenced or co-triggered by psychological factors and emotions, where physical findings may not be primary.
Akuter Schmerz
Pain lasting less than 3 months with a clear cause and sudden onset, serving as a warning signal and subsiding as tissue heals.
Schmerzassessment
The systematic collection and evaluation of pain parameters including intensity, quality, location, onset, duration, triggers, and associated symptoms.
NRS (Numeric Rating Scale)
A self-report pain scale rating intensity numerically from 0 (no pain) to 10 (worst imaginable pain).
Smiley-Analog-Skala (Face Pain Scale)
A visual self-report pain scale featuring facial expressions representing pain severity, suitable for children aged 4 and older.
VAS (Visuelle Analogskala)
A self-assessment tool where a patient marks pain intensity along a 10 cm line bounded by no pain and worst imaginable pain.
VRS (Verbal Rating Scale)
A self-report scale that uses verbal descriptions such as no pain, mild pain, or moderate pain to evaluate intensity.
BESD (Beurteilung von Schmerzen bei Demenz)
An observational pain assessment scale designed for non-verbal individuals or persons with dementia.
KUS-Skala (Kindliche Unbehagens- und Schmerzskala)
An observational pain assessment tool used for infants and young children up to 4 years of age.
WHO-Stufenschema
A three-step international guideline for pain therapy escalation (Step 1: Non-opioids; Step 2: Weak opioids + Non-opioids; Step 3: Strong opioids).
Opioide
Centrally acting analgesics (such as Morphin, Fentanyl, or Tilidin) that block pain signal transmission in the brain and spinal cord.
Koanalgetika
Adjuvant medications not primarily designed as analgesics (e.g., antidepressants, corticosteroids, antiepileptics) that support pain therapy.
