Jaundice

Anemia

Due to decrease in functional RBC and decrease in quantity of Hb

Caused: nutritinal deficiencies in and or low in copper, protein and vitamins in diet

Hypochromic anemia

Blood loss between 15-30% Hb (normal RBC contains 34% hb)

Aplastic anemia

-not producing enough RBC

-bone marrow is poisoned

Polycythemia

-Opposite and anemia

-Over Production of RBC

Pernicious anemia

Failure of RBC to develop properly

Sickle cell anemia

Hereditary disease found only in African Americans: RBC from into sickle shape rather than oval shape: can be fatal

Erythroblastosis fetalis

RH factors in unborn babies (negative in blood is the RH factor blood dosent match mothers

Hemoconcentration

-Opposite of anemia

-Ratio of RBC to fluid is above normal

-Can be caused by dehydration
