Electrolyte definition
A substance which dissociates into ions as a result of passage of electrical current through its aqueous solution is known as electrolyte
Example of electrolyte
Copper sulphate, sodium chloride
Types of electrolytes
5 groups (depending upon the capacity of conducting electricity)
- Strong electrolyte (strong acid, strong base, salt of strong acid and base)
- Weak electrolyte (weak acid, weak base, HgCl2)
- Moderately strong electrolytes (Na2CO3, CH3COONa)
