What are the 3 major fiber types in the cerebral cortex
Association Fibers: connect cortical areas within the same hemisphere
Commissural Fibers: connect cortical areas between hemispheres
Ex. corpus callosum and anterior commissure
Projection Fibers: Connects the cortex to subcortical areas
Ex. internal capsule
Label the 3 parts of the internal capsule
What tract fibers or other fibers does each part of the internal capsule contain? What results from its damage
Anterior Limb: anterior thalamic radiations → Damage results in behavioral problems
Genu: Descending corticobulbar UMN’s → Damage results in contralateral paralysis of lower face
Posterior Limb: Pyramidal UMNs, Extrapyramidal UMNs, Thalamic Radiations → Damage results in contralateral hemiplegia
