What is multi-streaming?
A camera sends multiple video streams with different resolutions and settings.
What is adaptive streaming?
XProtect automatically selects the best video stream based on the size of the view and user needs.
Why use adaptive streaming?
To reduce bandwidth usage and lower CPU/GPU load while still providing good image quality.
Why shouldn't a small camera view use a 4K stream?
It wastes bandwidth and processing power because the image is resized anyway.
Which stream is typically used for motion detection?
The Primary Recording Stream, usually a lower-resolution stream to save Recording Server resources.
What happens when you enlarge a camera view with adaptive streaming enabled?
XProtect automatically switches to a higher-resolution stream.
What happens when you digitally zoom with adaptive streaming?
XProtect automatically switches to an even higher-resolution stream if needed.
Is adaptive streaming enabled by default in Smart Client?
No. It must be enabled in the Smart Client Profile.
