Logic

How to combine concepts into judgements and judgements into syllogisms and chains of reasoning so as to achieve truth.

Truth

The mind's correspondence with reality

Useful Good

Goods that are only useful, and not desirable.

• Ex: Getting a tooth pulled

Useful and Desirable

Goods that are both useful and desirable.

• Ex: Being in good health.

Only Good

Goods that are only desirable.

• Ex: candy, having a good time.

Doxa

Common opinion. People in society generally believe it.

• Ex: Gossip, trends, "brushing your teeth everyday is good"

Endoxa

Reputable opinion. Respected thinkers give reason to take a claim seriously.

• Ex: Doctors suggest eating protein with every meal.

Deixis

Showing through evidence. Not believing something just because someone says so, instead looking at the evidence.

• Ex: Scientists have proven that it is easier to digest warm water.

Simple Apprehension

The act of forming a concept of the essence of something without making a judgement about it.

Judgement

The act of affirming or denying one concept of another concept.

Reasoning

The act by which the mind is led to a judgement of the truth of a proposition based upon the truth of other propositions. (The mind decides if something is true based on other things that are true).

Concept

A mental version of what exists in reality

Term

A verbal version of what exists in reality, conveying an accurate definition of the concept.
