Abandon if fire continues

2

Engine Power Loss During Takeoff

Sufficient runway: land ahead

Insufficient runway: 73kt shallow bank

Sufficient Altitude: Attempt Restart

  • 73kt, Trim

  • Fuel tank: switch

  • pump: on

  • mixture: rich

  • carb heat: on

If power is not regained: power-off landing

Engine Power Loss In Flight

  • Fuel Selector…switch

  • Fuel Pump…on

  • Mixture…rich

  • Carb heat…on

  • EIS…check for cause

  • Primer…check locked

If no fuel pressure is indicated, check tank selector position to be sure it is on a tank containing fuel.

When power is restored:

  • Carb heat…off

  • Electric fuel pump…off

If power is not restored, prepare of power-off landing

  • Trim…73 kt.

4

Power Off Landing

Locate suitable field

Establish spiral pattern

1,000 ft. at downwind position for normal landing

When field is made slow to 63 kt.

Touchdown lowest possible airspeed with full flaps

When committed:

Ignition…off

Master…off

Fuel selector…off

Mixture…cut-off

Seatbelts…tight

Door…ajar

5

Fire In Flight

  • Land Soon As Practical

Engine Fire: Engine Smoke or Cowling Flames

  • Fuel selector…off

  • Throttle…closed

  • Mixture…cut-off

  • Pump…off

  • Heater…off

  • Defroster…off

  • Proceed with Power Off Landing

6

Loss of Oil Pressure

Land as soon as possible & investigate cause.

Prepare for power-off landing

7

Loss of Fuel Pressure

Pump…on

Selector…check full tank

8

High Oil Tempeature

Land as soon as possible & investigate cause.

  • Prepare for power-off landing

9

Electrical Failure

Alternator annunciator light illuminated:

  • Ammeter…verify Inoperative alternator

Ammeter Zero:

  • Alternator…off

  • Electrical Load…Reduce

  • Alternator circuit breaker…check and reset

  • Alternator…on

If electrical power is not restored:

  • Alternator…off

  • Electrical load…reduce

  • Land soon as possible

10

Electrical Overload

  • Alternator…on

  • Battery…off

If loads are reduced:

  • Electrical load…reduce to minimum

If loads are not reduced:

  • Alternator…off

  • Battery…as required

  • Land soon as possible…except electrical failure

11

Spin Recovery

TARE

  1. Throttle…Idle

  2. Ailerons…neutral

  3. Rudder…full opposite
