Evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions originating in the standards and customs of one's own culture.

The genocide of about 6 million Jews and millions of other victims under Adolf Hitler's reign as Germany's Nazi Party chancellor (1933 to 1945).

narcissism

Excessive self-love and self-absorption; an inflated sense of self. (If self-esteem is confidence, narcissism is over-confidence.)

culture

Beliefs, customs, norms, symbols, and traditions of a specific group of people.

Individualism vs. Collectivism

Describes whether a person functions primarily as an individual or as part of a group.

empathy

The ability to take someone else's perspective and be concerned about their problems.

materialism

Preoccupation with physical comforts and things

self-efficacy

A sense that one is competent and effective, distinguished from self-esteem, which is one's sense of self-worth. (A sharp-shooter in the military might feel high self-efficacy and low self-esteem.)
