Alert area-contains a high volume of pilot training or unusual activity. You can enter, just use caution

Controlled firing area, where hazardous activities will be stopped if an aircraft is seen entering the area. They do not show up on charts at all

National security area-established for safety of ground facilities. Flight is usually allowed but discouraged, but will sometimes be prohibited by notam.

How are MTRs labelled

IR or VR for IFR/VFR. Followed by 4 numbers if below 1500 AGL, or 3 numbers if it contains segments above 1500 AGL

IR routes must be flown IFR, VR routes must be flown VFR

VR routes- visibility 5SM, flight must be below ceiling of 3000 AGL

Allows transit through a hole in the class B, does not extend to the surface. Do not need an ATC clearance

VFR transition route, gives specific routes for VFR traffic through class B. Clearance through the bravo is required

What is a TRSA (shown by the black line and black altitudes)?

terminal radar service area- provides extra radar for traffic seperation. You should follow ATC directions while inside

Special flight rules area, an area with special air traffic rules (SATR). Located in areas like alaska, florida, washington. For rules of each area, FAR part 93

air defense identification zone, near the US borders, where precise ID and control of all aircraft is important to security

2 way radio, altitude reporting transponder

What must you do to fly through the ADIZ?

File a DVFR (defense VFR) flight plan, with the time and location of entry into the ADIZ, and be on time when you fly that. Must make continuous ATC position reports
