Canon 1: general obligations

Maintain and advance knowledge of architecture, respect past architectural achievements, contribute to the growth of the profession, consider social and environmental impacts of work, exercise informed independent professional judgment

Canon 2: obligations to the public

Follow spirit and letter of the law, promote and protect public interest, act responsibly in personal and professional activities

Canon 3: obligations to the client

Serve clients competently and professionally, use unbiased and fair judgment, perform all professional services with integrity

Canon 4: obligations to the profession

Uphold the integrity of the profession, maintain the dignity and reputation of architecture

Canon 5: obligations to colleagues

Respect colleagues’ rights, acknowledge colleagues’ professional goals and contributions

Canon 6: obligations to the environment

Promote sustainable design principles, support responsible development in professional work
