We needed the land to make us look rich, farming, and for more people wanting to move out west. The land was used for shipping, like in New Orleans, farming, like in Iowa and Nebraska, and getting Oil. A region of the Louisiana Purchase is still used today for mining, like Colorado, shipping, like in New Orleans, and farming, in places like Iowa and Nebraska.
Essay question: In 1803, the US bought a large chunk of land called Louisiana. As we created states out of that land, the issue of Slavery in the new states was a big deal. Why did we need more land? What was the land used for? Explain how a region of that chunk is still important today?
