Deltoid

Supraspinatus

supraspinous fossa → greater tuberosity; capsule of shoulder joint; subscapular nerve; arm abduction & shoulder stabilization

Infraspinatus

infraspinous fossa → greater tuberosity; capsule of shoulder joint; subscapular nerve; external rotation of arm and shoulder stabilization

Teres Minor

lateral border of scapula → greater tuberosity; capsule of shoulder joint; axillary nerve; external rotation and adduction of arm

Teres Major

inferior angle of scapula → lesser tuberosity; capsule of shoulder joint; lower subscapular nerve; internal rotation, adduction, and extension of arm

Subscapularis

Trapezius

Rhomboid Major

spinous processes of T2 to T5 → medial border of scapula; dorsal scapular nerve; retraction and elevation of scapula

Biceps Brachii (Long Head)

Sartorius

anterior superior iliac spine → upper medial surface of tibia; femoral nerve; flexion, abduction, and lateral rotation of hip.

Iliopsoas

upper part of iliac fossa → head of fibula; femoral nerve; thigh flexion

Piriformis

anterior surface of sacrum, sacrotuberous ligament → greater trochanter of femur → nerve to piriformis (S1, S2); lateral rotation of extended thigh, abduction of flexed thigh, stabilizes hip joint

Tensor Fascia Latae

iliac crest → iliotibial tract; superior gluteal nerve; assists glutes maximus in knee extension

Biceps Femoris (Long Head)

ischial tuberosity → fibular head; sciatic nerve (tibial); leg flexion and external rotation

Biceps Femoris (Short Head)

linea aspera, lateral supracondyle of femur shaft → fibular head; sciatic nerve (peroneal); leg flexion and external rotation

Semitendinosus

ischial tuberosity → proximal medial surface of tibia; sciatic nerve (tibial); leg flexion and external rotation, thigh extension

Semimembranosus

Adductor Magnus (Hamstring Portion)

ischial tuberosity → adductor tubercle of femur; sciatic nerve (tibial); thigh extension via hip joint

Rectus Femoris

anterior inferior iliac spine (aiis) → quadriceps tendon into patella; femoral nerve; leg extension via knee joint, thigh flexion via hip joint

Vastus Lateralis

Vastus Medialis

Vastus Intermedius

shaft of the femur → upper end and shaft of femur → quadriceps tendon into patella; femoral nerve; leg extension via knee joint, articularis genus retracts synovial membrane

Gastrocnemius

lateral and medial condyles of femur → posterior surface of calcaneus via Achilles tendon → tibial nerve; plantar flexion of foot, assists in knee flexion

Popliteus

lateral condyle of femur, lateral meniscus → posterior surface of tibia above soleal line → tibial nerve; unlocks knee by rotating femur on fixed tibia, weak knee flexion

Tibialis Anterior

lateral condyle, upper lateral surface of tibia, interosseous membrane → medial cuneiform, base of 1st metatarsal → deep fibular (peroneal) nerve; dorsiflexion and inversion of foot

Tibialis Posterior

posterior surface of tibia, fibula, interosseous membrane → navicular tuberosity, cuneiforms, cuboid, bases of 2nd–4th metatarsals → tibial nerve; plantar flexion and inversion of foot, supports medial arch

Soleus

soleal line of tibia, posterior head and upper shaft of fibula → posterior surface of calcaneus via Achilles tendon → tibial nerve; plantar flexion of foot
