type of immunity donated by antibodies

Interstitial fluid

another name for lymph fluid; fluid between the tissue

the network of delicate vessels and capillaries that transport lymph fluid throughout the body to maintain fluid balance and support immune function

Lymph nodes

structures that produce lymphocytes and filter you harmful bacteria 

Lymph vessels

structures that transport excess tissue fluid back into the circulatory system 

Lymphatic system

system of vessels and nodes that supplement the blood circulatory system and carry lymph, nodes and organs produce lymphocytes to destroy invading bacteria

Macrophage

a cell that removes dead organisms and foreign substances by phagocytosis

Natural acquired immunity

immunity to a disease that results from having the disease and recovering

immunity with which a person is born

Palatine

tonsils located on the side of the soft palate

borrowed immunity; has a temporary effect

Peyer’s patches

also known as aggregated lymphatic follicles found in the walls of the small intestine; they produce macrophages

Right lymphatic duct

the lymphatic duct that receives lymph from the right side of the body

Spleen

lymph organ situated below and behind the stomach

Left lymphatic duct (thoracic)

lymphatic duct that receives lymph from the left side of the body

Tonsils

mass of lymph tissue in the back of the throat that produces lymphocytes
