what makes a sequence, arithmetic?
if the difference of the numbers are the SAME
2
New cards
what is sequence?
an ordered list of numbers
3
New cards
what is a recursive sequence
a sequence in which this term relies on the previous terms
4
New cards
what is the general term formula
what letter is the subscript?
how do you use this formula?
T n = a + ( n - 1 ) d
the n on the left-hand side of the equation is the subscript.
it represents the position of the terms.
this formula helps tell you what the pattern of the sequence is and the beginning number so you can solve the sequence for any term you want to know
think of it like input-output, the n is the input (what position you want to know) and the term is the output of that position.
to use this formula, look at the sequence and input the “a” and “d’ values, then you can solve for any term

recursive formula.
how do you look at a sequence and make a recursive formula?
6
New cards
how do you determine the amount of terms in a sequence
1. find general term
2. substitute value of last term to find n in the general term to find the position which will give you the answer.
