Human Rights
It is an entitlement that each individual is supposed to enjoy.
Equal protection clause
All persons under like circumstances and conditions both in the privileges conferred and liabilities imposed should be treated alike
Innate or Natural rights
Right is inherent and for all
Constitutional rights
Mandated, granted, and protected by the constitution of a country
Statutory rights
Mandated by laws approved and ratified by congress or lawmakers
Political rights
These represent the right to vote and participate in political processes to decide on the country’s leadership and governance and to be able to hold public offiice.
Economic rights
These rights refer to freedom to choose and pursue livelihood according to one’s desired or preferred career
Social/Cultural rights
Rights include the freedom to participate in living out one’s belief, continuing and enhancing one’s own traditions and customs
Rights of the accused
These protect people accused of any transgression of the law
Civil liberties/rights
Many of the these rights are innate and not created by law but are preserved by law
Freedom of expression
A principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear
Search warrant
An order in writing issued by the court commanding a peace officer to search for certain personal property
Clear and present danger
What can suspend the privacy of communication
Freedom of religion
Right to express their beliefs and convictions and to participate in activities in line with these beliefs
Right to privacy
It protects individuals from unauthorized intrusion into their personal lives, communications, and information
Freedom of speech
Right of individuals to express their opinions, thoughts, and ideas without fear of censhorship
Freedom of the press
Right of journalists, media organizations, and news outlets to report and publish information without government control, censorship, or retaliation
Right to property
It is a fundamental human right that allows individuals and groups to own, use, control, and dispose of possessions legally without unjust interference
