Aim
To examine the roles of the medial prefrontal cortex and amygdala in emotional response.
Procedure
Pictures of different objects/people were shown to each subject while they were undergoing fMRI scanning and activity in specific brain regions was recorded.
Results
Emotional reactions occurred in the amygdalas (it registered disgust while nothing registered in the medial prefrontal cortex)
Implications
Emotions have a biological basis
Limitations
Small sample sizeTo examine the roles of the medial prefrontal cortex and amygdala in emotional response.
Sample bias → well-educated people/similar educational backgrounds
