Role Summary
Provides credit and sales support to Commercial Banking Relationship Managers (RMs).
Work Experience Preferred
1 to 2 years of experience related to various aspects of commercial lending.
Credit Policy & Regulations
Requires a general knowledge of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation issues.
Loan Structures Knowledge
Ability to apply knowledge of various loan structures to formulate sound credit recommendations.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both one-on-one and in groups.
Internal Software Requirement
Ability to work with in-house financial reporting applications, including Navigator.
Compliance Training Requirement
Participation in all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML).
Portfolio Management Duties
Managing annual reviews, past dues, borrowing base monitoring, covenant compliance, CARs, and collateral exceptions.
Loan Process Involvement
Actively participating in joint calling, underwriting, and preparing credit approval packages.
Credit Analyst Coordination
Coordinating with analysts to prepare LARs, credit memos, financial spreads, and related documents.
Client Relationship Role
Serving as the secondary contact on client relationships.
Sales & Revenue Growth
Identifying cross-sell opportunities with new and existing clients, and assisting lenders in prospecting.
Loan Documentation Tasks
Preparing commitment letters and reviewing loan documents.
Financial Analysis Scope
Spreading, analyzing, and interpreting complex business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
Global Relationship View
Analyzing relationships, clients, and prospects globally rather than just focusing on individual requests.
Risk Management & Mitigation
Identifying strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and recommending ways to mitigate perceived risks.
Credit Presentation Autonomy
Preparing and presenting credit analysis packages through the credit approval chain with limited supervision.
Time Management Requirement
Allocating time effectively and independently prioritizing the workload to meet strict timelines.
Teamwork Requirement
Developing and maintaining a cohesive and cooperative working relationship with co-workers.
Credit Culture Alignment
Understanding and working effectively within the specific credit culture of the company.
Joint Calling
Co-visiting prospects or existing clients alongside the Relationship Manager to assist in the loan process.
Financial Spreading
The process of inputting and analyzing a business or individual's financial statements into reporting applications.
Borrowing Base Monitoring
Tracking the value of a borrower's collateral (like accounts receivable or inventory) to ensure it supports the loan amount.
Covenant Compliance
Ensuring that the borrower adheres to the financial and operational rules set forth in the loan agreement.
