What is a Truth Table in logic?
A tabular representation of truth values for a proposition or a set of propositions.
In a conditional statement, what is p commonly called?
The hypothesis or antecedent.
In a conditional statement, what is q commonly called?
The conclusion or consequent.
What does Mono Set refer to in these notes?
A singleton set; a set with exactly one element.
What is a Null Set?
A set that has no elements (the empty set).
What does negation do to a statement?
Provides the contradiction or denial; it flips the truth value (true becomes false, false becomes true).
What is the truth value rule for Disjunction (OR)?
P ∨ Q is true if at least one of P or Q is true; it is false only if both are false.
What is the truth value rule for Conjunction (AND)?
P ∧ Q is true only if both P and Q are true; it is false otherwise.
What is the truth value rule for Conditional (P → Q)?
The implication is true in all cases except when P is true and Q is false.
How do the negations of quantified statements relate in these notes?
'All are' is negated by 'Some are not'; 'Some are' is negated by 'None are.'
