Cecil Rhodes

King Lobengula
Second and last king of the Northern Ndebele people. He ruled present-day Zimbabwe from 1870 to 1894, facing colonization by the British South Africa Company.
Rudd Concession
Agreement between Cecil Rhodes and Lobengula, granting mining rights in Matabeleland to British South Africa Company in 1888.
First Chimurgenga
A rebellion against British colonization in Zimbabwe, led by local leaders like King Lobengula, to resist colonial rule and protect their land and independence.
WW1 Impact on Zimbabwe
Led to increased demand for resources in Zimbabwe and labor shortages due to men enlisting in the war. Grew the rally for a nationalist movement.
Land Apportionment Act
