triceps brachii

large fleshy muscle of posterior humorous, three-headed origin. powerful forearm extensor; antagonist of forearm flexors

biceps brachii

most familiar muscle of anterior humerus because this two-headed muscle bulges when forearm is flexed. powerful flexion and supination of forearm; weak arm flexor

brachioradialis

superficial muscle of lateral forearm; forms lateral boundary of cubital fossa. synergist in forearm flexion

brachialis

immediately deep to biceps brachii. flexor of forearm

pronator teres

seen in a superficial view between proximal margins of brachioradialis and flexor carpi radialis. acts synergistically with pronator quadrates to pronate forearm; weak forearm flexor

flexor carpi radialis

superficial; runs diagonally across forearm. powerful flexor and abductor of the hand

palmaris longus

small fleshy muscle with a long tendon; medial to flexor carpi radialis. flexes hand (weak); tenses skin and fascia of palm

flexor carpi ulnaris

superficial; medial to palmaris longus. flexes and adducts hand

extensor carpi radialis longus

superficial; parallels brachioradialis on lateral forearm. extends and abducts hand.

extensor digitorum

superficial; medial to extensor carpi radialis brevis. prime mover of finger extension; extends hand; can flare (abduct) fingers

extensor carpi ulnaris

superficial; medial posterior forearm. extends and adducts hand.
