Gender Bias

The differential treatment and/or representation of males and females, based on stereotypes or assumptions and not on real differences.

Universality

When a theory can be applied to all people, irrespective of gender and culture. In Psychology, this approach assumes that the key theories and studies in Psychology can be applied to all genders and cultures

Androcentrism

Being centred on, or dominated by males (conscious or unconscious)

Alpha Bias

When a theory or study in Psychology exaggerates or overestimates the differences between males and females

Beta Bias

Theories that ignore or minimize differences between genders, assuming that male experiences and findings are universally applicable to females.
