Define Hypothesis

A scientific guess or infrence based on limited previous information about the topic.

Define Observation

The act of using any of your five senses to gather information.

Define Inference

An educated guess by combining available knowledge, available evidence, observations.

What is the difference between inferences and observations?

Observation is the direct gather of data using your senses while an inference is an educated guess based off of the observations.

When is a line graph used?

When measuring a change over time.

When is a pie chart used?

When measuring percentages.

When is a bar graph used?

When comparing distinct groups or categories together.

What is the difference between the independent, dependent, and controlled variables?

Why is a control group used in an experiment?

To get a perspective on what would happen under regular conditions.

What is the experimental group?

The group in a research study that recieves the specific conditions being tested.

How do you analyze graphs and/or charts (Line, Bar, Pie)?

Look at the labels, axes, and other visual aids provided to gather important information.
