What is Imperialism?

It caused Germany anger that led to World War 2

It was that leftover land wasn’t good, rich people that own land and money/absentee landlords, crown and clergy reserves, money went to Britain, Agrarian church and promised land to people immigrating

It was Discrimination against the French and the British majority

The belief that the US would take over all of North America

They thought that as a colony they would be easier to take control of

It was a bill that gave the Canadian Government complete power over the indigenous
What is a Status Indian?
It is a First Nation that is officially registered by the Federal Government
What did Status Indian get?
They got certain rights and benefits under the law
What are Non Status Indians?
They are people who consider themselves First Nation but aren’t recognized or registered by the government
How do you lose your status rights as a First Nation?
To lose it you marry someone who is not First Nation
What are Treaty Indians?
They are Status Indian’s who signed a treaty with the government
What could be replaced with a Status Indian “citizenship”?
It could be replaced with a Canadian Citizenship
How could you lose your Indian Status?
You could lose it by voting, getting a degree, serving in the military, being a lawyer and being a Native woman marring a non-Native

Jean Chretien came up with the paper along with every Indigenous organization.
What did the 1982 Constitution do to the Indian Act?
It gave equality to the Indigenous people and gave them induvial rights to protect their land
