Adrenal (Suprarenal), 3 arteries
Superior, Middle, Inferior Adrenal Arteries
What is the function of the Superior, Middle and Inferior Adrenal Arteries
Oxygenated blood, provides a rich supply for hormones production (adrenaline and cortisol)
What is the function of the anterior tibial artery?
oxygenated blood, primary blood supply for the muscles and tissues of the anterior leg
aorta
responsible for distributing oxygenated blood from the hearts left ventricle to the entire circulation
What is the function of the ascending aorta?
carries oxygenated blood away from the heart
Left and Right coronary Arteries
supply oxygenated blood directly to the heart muscle (myocardium)
these are the first branches off the aorta
What is the function of the aortic arch
distributes blood to the head, neck, and upper limbs.
Brachiocephalic Trunk
a short artery that quickly branches into the right common carotid artery and the right subcalvian artery
Right common carotid artery
supplies blood to the right side of the head and neck
Right subclavian artery
supplies blood to the right upper limb
Left common carotid artery
supplies blood to the left side of the head and neck
Left subclavian artery
supplies blood to the upper limb
What is the function of the descending thoracic aorta
supplies blood to the structures within the chest
Posterior intercostal arteries
supplies the chest wall, intercostal spaces and the spinal cord
What is the function of the abdominal aorta
supplies blood to the abdominal organs, abdominal wall, and lower extermities
Unpaired: Celiac Trunk
supplies the stomach, liver, spleen and pancreas
Paried: Renal Arteries
supply the kidney
paired: gonadal arteries
(testicular/ovarian) supply the gonads
Terminal: Right and Left common iliac arteries
the final dividing of the aorta, which supply blood to the pelvis and lower limbs
Descending Aorta is divided into
desecnding thoracic aorta and the abdominal aorta
What is the function of the axillary artery
oxygenated blood
serve as the arterial blood supply to the entire upper limb, shoulder joint and the surrounding muscles of the chest wall and back
What is the function of basilar arteries
deliver oxygenated blood to the posterior structure of the brain (pons, midbrain, cerebellum and occipital lobes)
What is the function of the circle of willis
collateral system to maintain blood flow to the brain if one major artery is blocked
What is the function of the brachial artery
supply oxygenated blood to the entire forearm and hand
External iliac artery
located in the pelvis, travels along the posas major muscle
What is the function of the external iliac artery
deliver oxygenated blood to the lower limb
What is the function of the external carotid artery
supplies oxygenated blood to the exterior of the skull, face, and neck
What is the function of the femoral artery
deliver oxygenated blood to the entire lower limb
What is the function of the fibular artery
supplies oxygenated blood to the lateral and posterior muscles of the leg
What is the function of the gastric arteries
supply oxygenated blood to the wall of the stomach along the lesser curvature
What is the function of the internal carotid artery?
supplies oxygenated blood to the cerebrum, eyes and forehead
What is the function of the internal iliac artery
oxygeneted blood to the pelvic organs, buttox and medial thigh
What is the function of lumbar arteries
supply oxygenated blood to the posterior abdominal wall muscles, skin of the flank, vertebrae and spinal cord
What is the function of the middle cerebral artery
oxygenated blood supply of lateral surface of the cerebral hemisphere (speech, motor control, sensory)
What is the function of popliteal artery
supply oxygenated blood to the knee join, thigh muscle, entire leg
What is the function of the posterior tibial artery
oxygenated blood to posterior muscle of the leg, ankle, and sole of foot
What is the function of radial artery
oxygenated blood to lateral muscle of forearm, wrist, and hand , vessel for the pulse
function of ulnar artery
supply oxygenated blood to medial muscle of forearm, wrist and hand
What is the function of the vertebral artery
major blood supply to the brain, oxygenated blood to posterior portion of circle of Willis, the cerebellum and brainstem
What are the components of the celiac trunk
common hepatic
left gastric
splenix
(in the abdomen, near the spine, for blood supply of upper abdomen)
components of coronary vessels (arteries)
coronary left and right
right mariginal
posterior interventricular
anterior interventricular
left marginal
circumflex
(supply heart with oxygen and nutrients)
Right marginal artery function
supply oxygenated blood to the right ventricle
function of left marginal artery
oxygenated blood to the wall of left ventricle
Function of posterior interventricular artery
oxygenated blood to the posterior portion of interventricular septum
What is the function of anterior interventricular arteryy
oxygenated blood to the anterior walls of both ventricle and 2/3 interventricular septum (anterior)
Circumflex artery function
supplies oxygenated blood to the lateral and posterior walls of left atrium and left ventricle
