Why are you interested in this specific position (Senator or Secretary)?
I’m passionate about representing the chapter and keeping members informed (Senator) or using my organizational skills to manage records and deadlines (Secretary), and my community center experience prepared me to stay organized under pressure.
How does your previous experience prepare you for this position?
My work at a community center taught me to manage events and keep records, while NSBE’s shadow initiative strengthened my leadership and communication—skills that directly support both Senator and Secretary roles.
How will you balance your academics, your other commitments, and this role?
I prioritize tasks using digital calendars, plan weekly, and check in with teammates consistently—strategies that help me manage my coursework, job, and leadership duties effectively.
What is the biggest challenge in this position, and how would you overcome it?
For Senator, keeping up with deadlines and member updates; I’d set reminders and use group messaging. For Secretary, maintaining organized records; I’d use shared drives and online tools to stay efficient.
How do you plan to support NSBE’s mission?
By ensuring communication and organization within the chapter, I’ll help create more opportunities and visibility for Black engineers, supporting their academic and professional growth.
How would you handle disagreements or conflicts among members?
I’d listen calmly to all sides, identify misunderstandings, and promote open communication to resolve issues while maintaining a respectful and collaborative environment.
What is one initiative or idea you’d like to introduce in this role?
As Senator, a monthly ‘NSBE News Minute’ for updates; as Secretary, a centralized digital hub for minutes and documents to improve transparency and engagement.
How will you measure your success or effectiveness in this position?
I’ll set clear goals like timely report submissions and improved member engagement, then track attendance, feedback, and task completion to evaluate progress.
Why do you want to Join NSBE
I want to join NSBE to grow as a Black engineer, connect with others in STEM, and give back to a community that supports academic and professional success
