1st Amendment

Freedom of speech, religion, assembly, and petition

2nd Amendment

Right to bear arms and to a militia

3rd Amendment

No soldier can be quartered in any house

4th Amendment

Protection against unreasonable search and seizure, if evidence is obtained improperly, it cannot be used in trial

5th Amendment

Protection against being charged for the same crime twice, guaranteed to due process, and originally only applied to federal government, and emminent domain (government can seize property if it is deemed beneficial to the public, i.e. roads)

6th Amendment

Right to speedy trial and impartial jurry, being informed of charges against you, right to defense witnesses, and right to have a lawyer

7th Amendment

Right to jury trial if civil dispute is over $20

8th Amendment

No excessive bail or fines and no cruel or unusual punishment

9th Amendment

Rights reserved to the people (rights not specifically listed in the Constitution, however the SCOTUS has been hesitant to make new rights)

10th Amendment

Powers not given to the Federal government that are retained by the states

11th Amendment

Federal courts can't hear cases and make decisions against a state if the state is sued by someone from outside the state

12th Amendment

Changed electoral college to having separate polls for POTUS and VPOTUS, with the House deciding from the top three if there is no majority

13th Amendment

Abolishment of slavery

14th Amendment

Citizenship Clause saying that all born in the US are citizens of the US in the state they were born, states cannot create laws that abridge rights, states cannot deprive life, liberty and property without due process, all people have undeniable equal rights and protections. Last three clauses form selective incorporation

15th Amendment

Right to vote cannot be denied by states or the country on account of race, color, or previous servitude

16th Amendment

Congress can lay and collect taxes on incomes from whatever source derived

17th Amendment

Direct election of Senators, governors have power to fill vacancies

18th Amendment

Prohibition of manufacturing, selling, or transporting alcohol, but CAN drink (repealed)

19th Amendment

Women's suffrage/right to vote

20th Amendment

Sets inauguration date for new presidential terms to January and new sessions for Congress, and Congress can choose POTUS and VPOTUS in case of death

21st Amendment

Prohibition repealed, states can regulate alcoholic beverages within their borders

22nd Amendment

Limit on terms of presidents to two elections

23rd Amendment

DC has three electoral votes

24th Amendment

Right to vote not abridged by poll taxes

25th Amendment

POTUS can be removed if VP and majority of cabinet determines they are unable to carry out their duties, if POTUS and VP/Cabinet persist, a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress can remove the POTUS, VP becomes acting POTUS for temporary incapacitation

26th Amendment

Lowered voting age to eighteen

27th Amendment

Congress can't raise its pay during its current term.
